Pichwaai

Born in Nathdwara into an eighth-generation family of Pichhwai artists, he carries forward a lineage devoted to Shrinathji through sacred art. Trained by his great-grandfather and father, he now studies realism in Philadelphia while preserving and evolving Pichhwai as a bridge between heritage and contemporary practice.

I was born in Chitrakaron Ki Gali in Nathdwara, the historic street where generations of Pichhwai artists have lived and worked. My family home has witnessed centuries of devotion through art, with each generation contributing to the sacred tradition of Pichhwai painting, serving the divine form of Shrinathji.

I was born in Nathdwara, a town deeply rooted in the tradition of Pichhwai painting. Surrounded by senior artists within my own family, I began formally learning art at the age of 15. I owe much of my inspiration to my father, Vitthaldasji, my grandfather, Shobharamji, and my great-grandfather, Shivallaji.

I started doing art in my secondary school’s vacation , just for fun and I started getting better day by day, so I became passionate about doing art daily, it became my passion and I was obsessed with doing more realism artworks and started my first art youtube channel named “art giriraj”.
